Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Augustine Philip Mahiga of Tanzania

On December 20, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Augustine Philip Mahiga of Tanzania who was in China for an official visit.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Tanzania enjoy profound traditional friendship. The two countries have continued deepening political mutual trust, with fruitful outcomes yielding from cooperation in various fields and fresh vitality constantly presenting in bilateral relations in recent years. China highly values the development of China-Tanzania relations, and puts bilateral relations in a special important position. China is willing to work with Tanzania to jointly push forward the "Belt and Road" construction, comprehensively implement the outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in infrastructure construction, energy and mining industry, processing and manufacturing industry as well as other fields, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and intensify coordination in international and regional affairs, so as to push for sustained and greater development of bilateral relations.

Augustine Philip Mahiga said that China is Tanzania's sincere friend and has provided a lot of assistance and support for the Tanzanian side for a long time. The Tanzanian side stands ready to actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction and strengthen cooperation with China in infrastructure, energy, ports, aviation and other fields under the FOCAC framework. The Tanzanian side looks forward to further promoting the development of China-Africa relations and China-Africa comprehensive cooperation at the next FOCAC summit to be held in China in 2018.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern and reached extensive consensus.
