FM spokesperson Liu Jianchao's Remarks on the China-Japan Consultations on the East China Sea Issue
2007-10-20 00:00

Q: The Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura urged China to take a more positive stance on the East China Sea talks while meeting the press. What's China's reaction?

A: China has consistently taken a positive and pragmatic attitude in the East China Sea talks and has put forward fair and reasonable proposals. China should not be held responsible for not having achieved substantial progress of the talks so far. Japan's blame on China is totally unfounded.
