Ambassador Zou Xiaoli Calls on Prime Minister Tsipras

On September 25, Chinese ambassador Zou Xiaoli called on Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at the Maximos Mansion. The two sides had friendly and in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and cooperation in various areas.

Prime Minister Tsipras pointed out that both Greece and China are ancient civilizations, and the two peoples enjoy profound friendship. He stressed that to attract foreign investment is very crucial for economic recovery in Greece, for which Greece is capable and confident to create a stable and favorable environment. The New Greek Government regards its relations with China as a top priority, and is ready to work with China to facilitate new progress in economic, maritime, scientific, and cultural cooperation including the project of the Piraeus Port. It is willing to enhance communication and coordination in regional affairs to jointly safeguard peace and stability.

Ambassador Zou said that he was very honoured to become once again the first diplomat that Prime Minister Tsipras met after assumption of office, which reflected the importance that the New Greek Government attaches to bilateral relations. China-Greece relations face many unprecedented opportunities and broad prospects for cooperation in various areas. China has always regarded Greece as sincere friend and strategic partner. It is a conviction of China that with relentless efforts, China and Greece will realize joint revitalization, bring benefit to the peoples of the two countries, and make new contribution to world peace and development.
