Ambassador Zou Xiaoli Meets President of the Amphictyony of Ancient Greek Cities and Mayor of Marathon

On January 13, Ambassador Zou Xiaoli met at the Embassy President of the Amphictyony of Ancient Greek Cities and Mayor of Marathon Ilias Psinakis.

Ambassador Zou said that the 1st Chinese-Hellenic Cities Forum was successfully organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Amphictyony of Ancient Greek Cities. It is of great significance having built a new platform for bilateral cooperation at a local governmental level. The year of 2017 marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Greece, beginning the 2nd decade of the China-Greece comprehensive strategic partnership and the China-Greece Cultural Exchange and Cultural Industry Cooperation Year, while China will be country of honor at the Exhibition of Thessaloniki. All the above mentioned will create new and favorable chances of the bilateral relations to develop even further. Ambassador Zou hoped the two sides will strengthen communication and cooperation to ensure more positive results from the 2nd Chinese-Hellenic Cities Forum, which will be held in China this year, and make new contributions to the friendly cooperation relations between the two countries.

As for his part, Psinakis thanked Ambassador Zou and the Chinese Embassy for their strong support and help for the convention of the Chinese-Hellenic Cities Forum. He said that the Amphictyony of Ancient Greek Cities is willing to coordinate the Greek cities and competent authorities in attending the 2nd Chinese-Hellenic Cities Forum, and to make the Forum a highlight in the bilateral relations by enriching its content and expanding its influence.

Also, at the meeting were discussed issues in terms of the date, theme, orientation results, etc., concerning the 2nd Forum.
