Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang's Comments on the Injury of Chinese UN Peacekeepers in the Lebanon-Israel Conflict
2006-08-07 00:00

On the afternoon for August 6th, Beijing Time, a bomb hit the headquarters of Chinese Contingent with the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), causing three Chinese peacekeepers lightly injured. China is seriously concerned and strongly dissatisfied with the incident. The Chinese government has expressed sympathy and solicitude to the injured and demanded relevant parties to continue to provide timely and necessary treatment.

China has lodged representation to the parties concerned in Lebanon-Israel conflict and demanded them to take concrete measures to safeguard the safety of UN peacekeepers. We urge relevant parties in the conflict to cease fire immediately and return to the track of negotiation and political solution at an early date.
